Entry #10: Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing is a video game made by Nintendo where players can create their own town. In 2020 during the Corona Virus pandemic, Nintendo released the newest entry in the Animal Crossing series, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the player gets to be one of the first residents on an island. The player then gets to help build and design the island. During the pandemic, many people were playing the new Animal Crossing game as a way of interacting with friends and family during quarantine. According to the article, Why Animal Crossing Is the Game for the Coronavirus Moment, "Animal Crossing offers a haven and can give players a feeling of empowerment and community, particularly at a moment when many are being told to stay home." Animal Crossing really was a large part of what many people did during the pandemic.
Animal Crossing allowed people to stay connected during a global pandemic. I think that it is incredible that a video game can do so much to help people get through a hard time in life. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game that is like normal everyday life where a player does chores and talks with neighbors. Even now that the pandemic is over, Animal Crossing is a great video game that really created an impact when it came out during the pandemic lockdown.
Hey Lizzie, I think that it is great that you love Animal Crossing so much. It sounds like it helped you get through a hard time in life, and made it so you could keep in touch with family which is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHey Lizzie, i dont know anything about this game but it sounds really cool. It was interesting to read about how other people described it. Hopefully i can get a nintendo console sometime soon and play this myself.
ReplyDeleteSo, can you customize the animals and the island or just the island? What do people do in this game? Do I cross the street with animals? I like trying new things. So testing out a new game would be neat. Can I play this on my fancy desktop?
